With heavy heart I wish to alert everyone that my teacher, Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang, passed away on May 5, 2012. I met Grandmaster Feng in Shanghai in 1982 and became a formal disciple in 1987, and for a time lived with Grandmaster Feng and his family in Beijing.

Grandmaster Feng was giant in many ways. He had a tremendous hunger to learn, and a giant intellect to feed that hunger. As with many men of great intellect, he possessed a giant sense of humor. He was a giant of hard work and innovation. Most importantly, he possessed a giant sense of kindness and generosity. It is Grandmaster Feng that shared with us the true essence of taiji and qigong practice, and we are indebted to this great teacher. His art, one of the very best internal martial and healing arts, will benefit the world.
