Packing for Camp
Champaign Scheduleclass in New York Cityclass in BostonCampSeminars and Workshops

Packing List

  • If you have special dietary requirements or preferences and wish to bring your own supplemental food, there may be limited refrigeration space available. To guarantee that your food supply is preserved, you may wish to bring a cooler for any foods that require refrigeration. Ice will be available.
  • Please note that no linen service is provided, so you must bring your own bedding, pillow, and towels.
  • Some people find the mattresses in the cabins to be uncomfortably hard. If you prefer a softer mattress, you may wish to bring extra padding for your bed.
  • During the camp, we will train with taiji sticks. If you own your own stick, please bring it. Sticks will also be available for purchase ($40.00 each) but will not be available for loan. If you do not own a stick or ruler and do not wish to purchase one you may wish to bring a facsimile for training. (The standard taiji stick is 19" long and 1.5" in diameter; so a cylinder approximating that size should allow you to fully participate in the training.)
  • Weather in the Midwest is typically unpredictable, so please come prepared for anything - heat, cold, rain, or perfect conditions are all possible. You may wish to bring a jacket and rain gear as well as clothing for a variety of temperatures.
  • Early morning training takes place on a grassy area and the grass that time of day is typically wet, so please bring extra shoes and socks or waterproof footwear. It can also be chilly, so you may wish to bring gloves and a hat.
  • You may also want to pack the following:
    Flashlight
    Sunscreen
    Sunglasses/visor
    Insect repellant
    Camera
    Ear plugs
    Alarm clock
    Shower thongs
Chair or cushion suitable for seated meditation outdoors
